Interplay with fashion images: stripes

The original image was by Tony Ve Lu, from  Sky TV film footage. While looking at ways to transfer film from mini-tapes from obsolete equipment, I found a way to produce curved stripes to images, creating another illustration option. Tony is a master of photography, but I enjoy new illustration forays, particularly the accidental. This was the result of many attenpts to preserve some small, old films recorded on an old Panasonic NVGSII digital video recorder. I love the android feeling.

I've never been able to upload this  due to formatting so I have  quickly filmed it (just for the record) on a tiny camera. The green dot is where my eyes lead me. At the time I made it, I was using a heavy, little hired Oyster computer and spending many late nights in the computer room with graphics students, then going straight on to night shift. Someone stole my rings in the screen-printing room that year. The date, 2002, is wrong. The cat is my sister's and his name is Samson - he is going blind. The guy on the calendar looks like someone I knew once. The music you can hear is 'Mosox Punchay' from 'Inca Quena'  by Inti  Rami...always, always, love the source.

My "He who rules" fabric samples were  based on a theme I created from a photo I had of an old, dying king, seated on a hand-made throne. This is a sample piece and I did this  as a student, years ago. I pulled this out of a big black urn-thing in  my studio that is  full of older pieces I have kept, but never used. At the time, I thought this was a masculine piece, but I think guys see things differently.
