Horrors Facing the Innocent...



If you have never thought of reading historical biblical text or letters, recent news images may explain one of many reasons for the expression of  the Beatitudes in Mathew from 'The Sermon on the Mount'. The simple words raise a few questions of the history of human peace-making efforts. Roughly translated...


..."Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied"...

There have been horrific moments in history where "Barbarians" have been described…sometimes in cautious, historical accounts where the writer may have been in danger. In 'City of God',  Augustine refers to the Barbarians but the horrors of the onslaught of the barbarians is carefully masked within religious latin texts.
